Ways of Giving

Ways of Giving

  1. Outright Gift - Print a donation form
  2. Memorial Gift can be made in memory of a loved one, and First Care Foundation will be pleased to send a card to a designated family member as directed by you.
  3. A Gift In Honor can be made in honor of someone special, perhaps on a birthday, anniversary, or in appreciation.  First Care Foundation will send a card to the honoree acknowledging the gift.  Memorial/honorarium envelopes can be picked up at the registration desk or contact Eileen Hegg at 218-435-7632 or Mary Peterson at 218-435-1133.
  4. Planned Giving - While providing support for First Care Medical Services, planned gifts may also provide significant benefit to the donor:
    -  Avoiding capital gains tax
    -  Possible income for life
    -  Passing assets on to loved one at a reduced tax cost
    -  Increasing current income
    -  Reducing income tax liability
With the help of a knowledgeable and experienced attorney or financial consultant, you can craft a planned gift that fits your individual charitable and financial goals.  The right advisor will need to have the expertise to assist you on finances, investments, tax planning and legal issues, and an understanding of the emotional challenges of planning for the distribution of your wealth.
  • A Bequest is when you leave your assets to First Care Medical Services Foundation in your will.
  • A Charitable Lead Trust is made in payments, either in a fixed amount or a certain percentage, during its term.  Once the term is over, the principle from the trust can either go back to your or, if you choose, loved ones who are named by you.
  • Endowed Gift is a legacy gift that continues to be invested forever, while its earnings are granted out year after year to help fulfill the needs of First Care Medical Services.
  • A Gift Annuity is a contract between you and the charity to which you are donating.  The charity will pay a fixed amount to either you or a loved one of your choosing in return for your donation of cash or other assets.
  • Gifts of Life Insurance naming First Care Medical Services as the beneficiary is a simple and straightforward method to support First Care Medical Services Foundation.

First Care Medical Services operates as a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) charitable non-profit.  This makes your contribution deductible for tax purposes.  Three First Care funds are registered with the Northwest Minnesota Foundation:
