Volunteers impacting life at First Care

The mission of the Friends of First Care Auxiliary is serving those who serve.  They currently list 71 members who volunteer their time to enhance life for patients and lighten the load for staff at First Care Medical Services.

Linda Blaser, Volunteer Coordinator, praised her volunteers, "Our volunteer team is bringing new life, enthusiasm, helping hands and a friendly spirit to First Care Medical Services in Fosston.  They are so willing to help, and their volunteer time is helping to enhance the high quality health care at First Care."

Friends of First Care have been a busy group in their first months as an organization.  They have been present in many areas of the facility, bringing smiles, help and funds.  In December of 2008 the sale of suckers brought in $125.  During February their Valentine Candy Kiss sale netted them $890.  With the money they have purchased a metal patio table and chairs for the surgery wating room and a rocking chair and nursing stool for new mothers in the maternity rooms of the hospital.  For the Nursing Home they bought comforting music CDs, easels and painting supplies, a water fountain and annual flowers for the garden outside.

The Prairie Pines assisted living has been the recipient of the volunteers' time when they made centerpieces for tables in the dining room.

The Friends of First Care Auxiliary provides members with opportunities to share ideas, develop leadership skills and promote volunteer services that support First Care's health care facilities.  Friends of First Care offers a choice in memberships; including active volunteers, associate members and liaison members.  If you would like to volunteer time to the organization contact Linda Blaser, Volunteer Coordinator, at 218-435-7629.

One of the recent purchases of the Friends of First Care is a metal table and chairs that has been placed just outside the surgery waiting room.  Friends and family of those having surgery can sit outside and enjoy the sunny weather as they wait.  Doris Murray and Helen Matson gave it the comfort test.
