The energy level felt among members of the First Care Medical Services newly formed auxiliary, Friends of First Care, continues to grow as members met to install the new officers.
Elmyrna Kaupang of Winger agreed to be the president, Alberta Hanson of McIntosh agreed to be Vice President, Deb Winjum of Fosston was named secretary and Terry Kolden is the treasurer.
Jane Johnson, District A Chair of the Health Care Auxiliary/Advocates of Minnesota, conducted the installation on Monday, November 24, presented a rose to each officer and explained the importance and uniqueness of each office. Alberta Hanson and Deb Winjum were not able to be present for the installation, so Hazel Trogstad and Barb Muesing stood in for them to accept their flowers as each office was described.
After the installation, Elmyrna Kaupang took over the meeting to discuss projects for the coming year. Members expressed optimism for the success of the ventures proposed, and volunteers were forthcoming. December 4th was set to begin work on the first fun fundraising project, preparing suckers to sell for stocking stuffers, package adornment or for gifts. The second project, also planned for December, will be to make gift boxes filled with candy to distribute to First Care residents, tenants and patients. An ongoing project the group accepted by the group was to keep the new baby baskets in the o.b. department full of blankets, caps etc.
It was decided that the leadership team would meet once a month, and the whole group would meet quarterly and also as needed for project work. Volunteers discussed the projects proposed and the materials they had at home to help complete the projects. Donated yarn, flannel, fleece and candy for the gift boxes were requested.
